The Institute for the Radical Imagination is pleased to announce the annual Stanley Aronowitz Memorial Lecture, to be held yearly in New York City beginning in 2022.

Stanley Aronowitz was not only the founding president of the Institute but served as model for what it is to be a Left public intellectual. Remaining faithful to the principles of the radical left tradition throughout a career that spanned well over a half-century, Aronowitz strongly fought against reductionist forms of moralism and sectarianism. He understood and helped facilitate the capacity of all peoples to think, create, and actively reimagine and remake their social world. Consistently connected to the struggles of the labor movement as well as the battles within the cultural and educational institutions, Aronowitz championed radical democratic formations as an alternative to the alienation and exploitation of capitalist societies. His profilic writings, both theoretical and occasional, were always dialectically constructed with political purpose and displayed the necessity of theoretical rigor, historical and philosophical breath, and creativity in the search for the new "poetry from the future."

The  annual Aronowitz Lecture will feature timely mediations from leading scholars and activists that embody and carry on Stanley's intellectual and political principles. Please help making this event an ongoing reality by making a tax-deductible donation to the Stanley Aronowitz Memorial Lecture.
